Paul Gallivan is the Outdoors Manager of WoolBeding, located in West Sussex.

Woolbeding delights at every turn with distinctive garden rooms set against thoughtfully composed borders. Formal gardens merge into the far reaching rural landscape of the River Rother, a perfect backdrop for the many sculptures and follies you’ll come across.

You will be fascinated to hear about the striking ten-sided glasshouse.

Martyn Burkinshaw has been the Head Gardener and Head Ranger of Petworth House and Park for 10 years.  In his time at Petworth he has overseen major replanting projects in the Pleasure Ground Garden, inspired by the works of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, the 3rd Earl of Egremont, and historical contemporaries.  Developing the Pleasure Garden Reimagination Project informed by the site history, future climate, and current trends in garden design theory; Petworth is taking a 'slow gardening' approach to delivering change in our ever-improving Garden.

Steve Feazey is the Senior Gardener at Sheffield Park and Garden. Steve looks after the weird and wonderful tree collection that dates back to 1485 and is lucky enough to lead on the sites climate adaptation work in conjunction with Kew Gardens, Bristol University, Royal Holloway and Bartletts Tree Experts.

Steve's talk will centre around the effects of the '87 storm at Sheffield Park and Garden, where over 2000 trees were lost and the landscape completely changed. Many of the effects from the '87 storm are still seen today.

 Steve will also discuss learning from the '87 storm and through climate modelling data, which trees may (or may not!) have a future in the south-east. Sheffield Park and Garden is the only National Trust site that uses climate modelling to understand which trees will potentially be suitable for the Grade I woodland landscape for years to come, with biodiversity sitting at the heart of decision making across its 500 acres.
